What do you think of when you think of a dragon?
I thought of huge flapping wings, and studied how the movement of the wings of birds and bats works. That is where the shapes come from. I thought of stories and fairy tales. Something made up, born in the mind of men. That is where the connections, rivets and hinges, come from. I thought of an ancient creature. That is where the colour comes from, the patina of time.

on the right, shown together with “Recycle cells” by Samuel Haines for the exhibition “Beginning -Middle - Endless” curated by Professor Heather White.
The exhibition is based on the Surrealist “Exquisite Corpse” in which twenty neckpieces are on display.
Two different students living in different countries created each neckpiece. Half of the students are from Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School, Florence Italy, the other from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston MA.
The students were asked to create one-half of a neckpiece and Heather White made curatorial decisions on pairings and physically assembled the halves to make whole necklaces in which the unexpected ensues.
The exhibition will travel to Boston, MA USA in fall 2012.
